MIDC 2021 Showcase

After a year-long hiatus due to Covid, MIDC will finally be performing its annual spring showcase this May of 2021! We believe that perhaps now more than ever, this showcase is needed emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. We are deeply grateful for our dance community here at MIDC and the support we continue to receive while we view (and navigate) these external obstacles as challenges (not roadblocks) to a “new normal.” The safety and health of our dancers, family, friends, community, and society are of the utmost importance to MIDC. As such, we will be taking the following precautions to address any concerns:

Plans for the 2021 showcase include:

  • An outside elevated dance floor

  • Covered in Marley

  • Professional photography, videography, lighting, and music

  • Outside socially-distanced seating (tailgate or table seating)

Are you looking for an option for your dancer (ages 3 to 18) to PERFORM? Great! Keep reading. 

If you are not currently enrolled in classes but wish to perform, you are more than welcome to sign up! You must sign up by January 31st to be eligible for the showcase.


What are the differences/precautions we will be taking? 

  • We will be abiding by all CDC, state, and county guidelines. Guidelines change constantly, so we will send an email one week prior to the show with all updated rules and expectations.

  • We will be outside. Dancers will be using the outside floor for the performance. We will be transforming the parking lot into our outdoor amphitheater.

  • Dancers will be masked. Unless the guidelines change for COVID, we will have dancers be masked the entire time.

  • All audience members will be in household clusters. Each “cluster” will sit together at a table or tailgate-style (in their car or bed of a truck) in the parking lot in designated areas that are at least 10 feet apart.

  • Audience members will be asked to wear a mask unless they are seated.

If your dancer IS interested in performing:

  • Fill out this MIDC Showcase Form

  • Payments for everything will be sent as an invoice by MIDC.


If your dancer IS NOT interested in performing:

  • We totally understand! Classes will continue as regularly scheduled

  • Your dancer will still learn the dance (which is a great skill to have); they will just not be performing

  • ALL Competition pieces (including solos)

  • Finale (taught during Wednesday technique classes)

  • Monday Mini Movement

  • Tuesday Petite Hip Hop

  • Tuesday Petite Jazz

  • Wednesday Hip Hop

  • Thursday Petite Ballet

  • Thursday Junior Ballet

  • Thursday Pointe

  • Thursday Teen/Senior Ballet

  • Saturday Mini Movement


Participation fee: $100 An invoice will be sent via email. If you are a competition team member, you will not be asked to pay a participation fee. This fee covers the cost of the show, photography, and videography. You only pay one participation fee no matter how many dances you participate in.


Costumes: Each class will have a costume for the show. Each costume will be ordered by MIDC. The total will NOT exceed $100 (tights and shoes are NOT included in this total). Dance families are responsible for getting the tights and shoes for the performance. There will be an email sent in late February that included what shoes and tights your dancer will need).
